My Flash Player has been crashing on Mozilla Firefox for 6 months. I'm running Windows 7. The problem has endured from Firefox 15.0.1 to 20.0.1 with Stub 22.0. I tried multiple solutions as suggested on the Adobe Flash Player Help page. The only one that worked was to downgrade to 10.3.
This weekend my computer began experiencing some problems and I ran a Malware Bytes scan. The following file was detected and deleted:
FlashPlayer_V.17573325b.exe
The file is associated with DOMAIQ.exe and DOMAIQ10.exe, known malware. Other than that, I can't find any information about it. And I cannot determine when the file was installed on my computer. However, I did update Flash today to version 11.8.800.94, and it's working fine with Firefox. (I updated Flash as recently as June 14 and was still experiencing problems.)
Is anyone familiar with the DOMAIQ virus? Does anyone have information where it comes from? And has anyone heard of this version of Flash as a virus?
Is this a temporary fix, did my problem lie elsewhere, or was this the true source of the problem?
Thanks so much -
