Flash crashing Internet Explorer, and possibly Google Chrome.

Good day,

One of my customers has come to me with a rather troubling little problem.

He and two of his collegues are experiencing the same problem and started on Sunday 24.02.2013.

Problem description:

Chrome doesn't load any webpages, sometimes displays a plugin crash after a while.

Internet Explorer crashes but loads webpages, flash reported at fault in event viewer.

This has been tested so far.

  • Chrome and IE both work fine under Secure Startup in Windows.
  • Uninstalled Chrome with Revo Uninstaller
  • Scanned machine for Virues malware with: Trend Officescan, Malwarebytes, MGEM, ComboFix, SUPERAntispyware, HitmanPro, Hijackthis etc etc.
  • Tested with all security application unloaded or closed.
  • Chrome works if I tune it with -no-sandbox but since this disables all chrome security I don't really want to run like that.

So, problem is like this.

Google Chrome, gets stuck on loading pages.

No response what so ever but after a while the page show a plugin crash (Even though none are shown as installed).

Internet Explorer works, but after 1 -2 clicks on some links it crashes with the following event.

Thus makes me think the culprit here is Flash.

If I do a regular uninstall of Flash Internet Explorer works a bit better.

How ever, chrome has the same problem. And since it uses its built in flash player I am unable to uninstall flash for it.

So my question to you.

Is there any way to completely whipe everything that is related to Flash player from the machine to do a clean install of it?

Any help is much appreciated, I am at a total loss here. I kind of assumed this was virus or malware that caused this but since it didn't find anything with my scans the problem seems to be elsewhere.

Thanks in advance!

Martin
